(TEMISKAMING SHORES, ON) - A traffic complaint led to a driver being arrested for impaired on Highway 65.
On Saturday, July 26, 2025, at approximately 6:30 pm, the Temiskaming Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), responded to a traffic complaint on Highway 65 in Temiskaming Shores.
Police located and stopped the vehicle on Highway 65 West in Temiskaming Shores. While speaking with the driver, officers observed a two-year-old child in a child car seat in the rear of the vehicle. As a result of the investigation, the driver was arrested for impaired driving. The driver was transported to the OPP detachment where further testing was conducted on the driver.
To protect the identity of the child, the name of the accused will not be released.
A 33-year-old driver of Cobalt, has been charged with:
- Operation while impaired - alcohol
- Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
- Dangerous operation
- Driving while under suspension
The driver received a 90-day Administrative Drivers Licence Suspension (ADLS) and the vehicle was impounded.
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Haileybury, at a later date.
