(CLEARVIEW TOWNSHIP, ON) -The Huronia West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a driver with numerous criminal offences after attempting to flee police.

On November 19, 2025, shortly after 12:00 pm, the Huronia West Detachment OPP received a traffic complaint involving a pick-up truck driving dangerously throughout Clearview Township.  A member of the Huronia West detachment attempted to stop the pick-up truck on Superior Street, however the vehicle fled.   

Shortly after, the pick-up was intercepted on County Road 10 and with the assistance of members of the Nottawasaga OPP, officers were able to safely stop the vehicle by deploying a tire deflation device. After a brief foot chase, officers took the driver into custody without incident. Following the arrest, officers entered into an impaired operation investigation.

Louis Leavens, 31, of Wasaga Beach, was charged with:

  • Flight from peace officer
  • Dangerous operation
  • Refusal to comply with demand
  • Operation while impaired

The accused is being held for a Bail Hearing with the Ontario Court of Justice in Barrie on November 20, 2025.
