(Red Lake, ON) Members of the Red Lake Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) initiated a traffic stop after a complaint of a possible impaired driver in Balmertown, Ontario.

On Monday, November 17th, 2025 at approximately 9 pm, officers conducted a traffic stop on a motor vehicle and an impaired driving investigation commenced. The operator was arrested and charged under multiple legislations.

Sheridan MONKMAN, 30 years old of Lundar, Manitoba was charged with:

• Operation While Impaired - Alcohol and drugs - Criminal Code of Canada
• Operation While Impaired - Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 Plus) - Criminal Code of Canada
• Possess Unmarked Cigarettes - Tobacco Tax Act
• Drive Vehicle or Boat with Cannabis Readily Available - Cannabis Control Act 2017
• Driver - Fail to Surrender Licence - Highway Traffic Act
• Driving Motor Vehicle with Liquor Readily Available - Liquor Licence and Control Act 2019

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Red Lake on December 11th, 2025. The accused faced a 90 day Driver’s Licence suspension, as well as a 7 day vehicle impoundment.
