TRAFFIC HAZARD LEADS TO IMPAIRED CHARGE
(BLANDFORD-BLENHEIM, ON) - An individual is facing impaired driving related charges after police received a call for service regarding a traffic hazard.
On January 1, 2026, at approximately 5:00 am, the Oxford Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Detachment were dispatched to a traffic hazard, on Oxford Road 29 in the Township of Blandford-Blenheim. It was reported that a vehicle was interfering with traffic. Officers patrolled and subsequently located the vehicle.
Spencer Ashford, 29-years-old, of Aylmer, is charged with:
- Operation While Impaired - Alcohol
- Operation While Impaired - Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 Plus)
- Drive motor vehicle - Not equipped with ignition interlock device
- Novice driver - B.A.C above zero
- Class G1 licence holder - Drive at unlawful hour
- Class G1 licence holder - Unaccompanied by qualified driver
A 90-day Administrative Driver’s License Suspension (ADLS) and a seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute.
The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Woodstock on February 10, 2026.
