TRAFFIC STOP LEADS TO IMPAIRED DRIVER
(MIDDLESEX CENTRE, ON) - Driver facing Impaired charge after traffic stop.
On December 13, 2025, at 1:58 am, a member of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) while on general patrol on Carriage Road in the Municipality of Middlesex Centre, observed a suspicious vehicle.
A traffic stop was initiated at which time the driver was placed under arrest and transported to the Middlesex OPP Detachment.
As a result, River JOHN, a 23-year-old of Oneida Nation of the Thames First Nation, has been charged under the Criminal Code, Highway Traffic Act and Cannabis Control Act with:
- Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
- Class G1 licence holder - unaccompanied by qualified driver
- Class G1 licence holder - drive at unlawful hour
- Novice driver - B.A.C. above zero
- Drive vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available
The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice to speak to the charges on January 27, 2026.
