TRAFFIC STOP LEADS TO IMPAIRED DRIVER
(MIDDLESEX CENTRE, ON) - Driver facing Impaired charge after traffic stop.
On January 10, 2026, at 3:24 am, a member of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) while on general patrol in the Municipality of Middlesex Centre, observed a suspicious vehicle on Gideon Drive.
A traffic stop was initiated at which time the driver was placed under arrest and transported to the Middlesex OPP Detachment.
As a result, Matthew JUNOP, a 20-year-old of London has been charged under the Criminal Code and Highway Traffic Act with:
- Operation while impaired - alcohol
- Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
- Drive without proper rear light - motor vehicle
- Novice driver - B.A.C. above zero
The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice to speak to the charges on February 5, 2026.
