(WASAGA BEACH, ON) - The Huronia West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged one individual with impaired driving related charges after an officer stopped a vehicle due to the driver seen using their cellphone.
On June 21, 2025, shortly after 12:30 pm, Huronia West OPP officers were conducting traffic enforcement on Mosley Street at 18th Street in the town of Wasaga Beach. Officers stopped a vehicle after the driver was seen using their cellphone. During the interaction, officers formed grounds that the driver’s ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol, leading to an arrest. As a result of the investigation, Michael BRENNAN, 45-year-old of Elmvale, was arrested and has been charged with the following:
- Adult Operation while Impaired - Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus)
- Adult Operation while Impaired - Alcohol and drugs
- Adult Operation while Prohibited under the Criminal Code
- Adult Drive - Handheld Communication Device (HTA)
- Adult Driving Motor Vehicle with Open Container of Liquor (LLCA)
The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice located in Collingwood on August 19, 2025, to answer to the charges.
