Driver and Business Charged

(CENTRE WELLINGTON TWP, ON) - The Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Traffic Management Unit (TMU) charge a driver from Brampton, alongside a business in-relation to a traffic stop, resulting in eight charges and three warnings.

On June 14, 2025, at approximately 3:30 pm, the Wellington OPP TMU were conducting proactive traffic enforcement within Wellington County, which resulted in a traffic stop being initiated on a commercial motor vehicle (CMV) on Gzowski Street within Fergus.

As a result of the investigation, a 32-year-old from Brampton is charged under the Highway Traffic Act with:

  • Careless Driving
  • Fail to report damage to property on highway
  • Fail to accurately complete daily inspection report
  • Improper tires - drawn vehicle - commercial motor vehicle
  • Push rod stroke exceeds prescribed limit - commercial motor vehicle
  • Drive commercial motor vehicle with a major defect in it or in drawn vehicle

The accused was also given warnings under the Highway Traffic Act for:

  • Improper Tires - drawn vehicle - commercial motor vehicle
  • Push rod stroke exceeds prescribed limit - commercial motor vehicle
  • Drive commercial motor vehicle with a major defect in it or in drawn vehicle (three counts)

Additionally, a business associated to the traffic stop is charged under the Highway Traffic Act with:

  • Fail to ensure performance standards are met
  • Fail to ensure daily inspection is conducted properly

All accused involved are scheduled to appear in the Provincial Offences Court - Guelph at a later date.
