(KIRKLAND LAKE, ON) - The Kirkland Lake Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle that resulted in over $75,000 in drugs.

On Sunday July 13, 2025 at approximately 3:40 pm the Kirkland Lake OPP conducted a traffic stop on Prospect Avenue in Kirkland Lake for a driver whose licence was suspended.

The vehicle driver was arrested for driving while drivers’ licence was suspended. A search of the vehicle and persons incident to arrest resulted in the seizure of suspected fentanyl, cocaine, crack cocaine, methamphetamine, and ketamine with a total estimated street value of over $75,000. Also seized was a digital scale, three cell phones, drug paraphernalia and approximately $4,475 in Canadian currency.

As a result of the investigation, Brandon SCHUKAN, a 31-year-old from Limoges, Ontario has been charged with:

  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking- Cocaine
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking- Methamphetamine
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking- Opioid
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking- Crack Cocaine
  • Possession of a schedule I substance- Cocaine
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
  • Driving while under suspension
  • Drive vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available

The accused has been released from custody and is scheduled to next appear before the Kirkland Lake Ontario Court of Justice on August 21, 2025.

Additionally, Jessica BENSON, a 39-year-old from Swastika, has been charged with:

  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking- Cocaine
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking -Methamphetamine
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking- Opioid
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking- Ketamine
  • Disobeying order of court

The accused has been remanded into custody and is schedule to next appear before the Kirkland Lake Ontario Court of Justice on July 18, 2025.
