(MARKSTAY-WARREN, ON) - The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested and charged a driver with drugs and firearms offences.

On Sunday November 9, 2025, at approximately 8:20 pm, members from the Nipissing West (Sudbury) Detachment of the OPP conducted a traffic stop with a vehicle on Highway 17, Markstay-Warren.

A search of the vehicle located a loaded hand gun, ammunition, Canadian currency, and drugs suspected to be Cocaine and fentanyl.

As a result of the investigation the driver, Cydick BAPTISTE, 33 years-of-age, from North York was arrested and charged with, - Possession of prohibited device or ammunition for dangerous purpose

  • Transport firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition in a careless manner
  • Carrying concealed weapon
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Occupant of motor vehicle knowing there was prohibited device or ammunition
  • Possession of prohibited or restricted firearm with ammo - two counts
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - three counts

The accused was held for Bail Court, then released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on Wednesday December 17, 2025, in Sudbury.
