TRAFFIC STOP RESULTS IN CHARGES

(WELLINGTON NORTH TWP, ON) - The Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) charge local resident with five provincial offences stemming from a traffic stop.

On September 21, 2025, at approximately 9:00 pm, the Wellington County OPP were conducting a proactive traffic enforcement initiative, when they observed a motor vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed, to which a traffic stop was conducted on Highway 6 within Wellington North Township.

As a result of the investigation, a 30-year-old of Arthur was charged under the Highway Traffic Act and the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act with:

  • Speeding 1 - 49 km/h over the posted limit
  • Driving while under suspension
  • Fail to surrender suspended driver’s licence
  • Class G1 licence holder - unaccompanied by qualified driver
  • Class G1 licence holder - carry front-seat passenger

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Provincial Offences Court - Guelph at a later date.
