TWO-VEHICLE COLLISION CLOSES EASTBOUND LANES OF HIGHWAY 401

(THAMES CENTRE, ON) - Driver charged after two-vehicle collision on Highway 401 Eastbound in Thames Centre.

On January 1, 2026, at 6:23 pm, members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Middlesex-London Paramedic Service and Thames Centre Fire were dispatched to the Eastbound lanes of Highway 401 just west of Dorchester Road in Thames Centre, for the report of a collision involving two vehicles.

Early investigation revealed a Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) lost control and struck a transport truck.

Three individuals of the SUV were transported to hospital, one with life-threatening-injuries, however the injury status was later down-graded to non-life-threatening.

As a result, the eastbound lanes were initially closed at Westchester Bourne, however a lane was opened to keep traffic flowing while emergency crews removed the vehicles.

A 51-year-old of Illinois, United States of America, has been charged with Careless Driving under the Highway Traffic Act.
