Heavy Police Presence Cleared, Roads Reopened

(KIRKLAND LAKE, ON) - The heavy police presence on Government Road West between Water Lane and Lebel Avenue in Kirkland Lake has cleared following a reported gas leak. Residents and businesses have been advised to return to their locations.

Members of the Kirkland Lake Detachment were called on November 6, 2025, at approximately 9:10 am to assist with temporarily evacuating residents and businesses in the affected areas - a safety step that ensured public wellbeing while emergency services addressed the situation. The cause of the gas leak remains under investigation.

Government Road West between Wood Street and McCamus Avenue remains closed for further investigation by the local fire service.
