Human Remains Located, Identity Not Confirmed

(SMITHS FALLS, ON) - The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has located human remains as part of an ongoing investigation near Smiths Falls.

On Wednesday, October 29, 2025, three people were arrested and charged with first degree murder in connection with the disappearance and death of Robbie THOMSON.

He had been reported missing in October 2023. His body had not been located, but the investigation has determined that THOMSON was the victim of a homicide.

On Thursday, October 30, 2025, officers executing a search warrant at a residence on Kelly Jordan Road located human remains on the property. A postmortem examination will be required to confirm the identity of the remains, as well as the cause of death.

The accused individuals remain in custody following a bail hearing and are scheduled to appear again before the Ontario Court of Justice in Perth on Wednesday, November 5, 2025.

The Lanark County OPP, in collaboration with the Smiths Falls Police Service, continues to investigate under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch. The investigation is being conducted in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service, with support from OPP Forensic Identification Services.

Residents of Kelly Jordan Road, northeast of Smiths Falls, will continue to see a large police presence as part of this investigation. There is no risk to public safety.
