-UPDATE #1- OPP INVESTIGATING FATAL FAIL TO REMAIN ON HIGHWAY 89

(INNISFIL, ON) - The Nottawasaga Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is continuing the investigation into a fatal fail-to-remain collision, following the discovery of a deceased female along Highway 89 in the Town of Innisfil. Officers are now looking to identify a driver that may have witnessed the incident.
On Sunday, July 13, 2025, shortly after 3:00 am, officers responded to a report of a deceased female located on the shoulder of Highway 89 near 5th Side Road. The victim, a 35-year-old from Richmond Hill, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
As part of the investigation, Highway 89 was temporarily closed between King Street and 5th Side Road during the early morning hours as members of the OPP Technical Collision Investigation (TCI) team assisted with the ongoing investigation. The roadway has since reopened.
Preliminary investigation indicates the victim was walking along Highway 89 when she was struck by a blue passenger vehicle traveling eastbound shortly after 2:00 am The vehicle failed to remain at the scene. The vehicle has since been located and investigators are appealing to the public for assistance in identifying the driver.
Investigators have also identified a white SUV that was seen traveling closely behind the suspect vehicle at the time of the collision. Police believe the driver may have witnessed the incident and are seeking to identify and speak with them regarding any information they may have.
