-UPDATE #1- OPP INVESTIGATING SUSPICIOUS DEATH IN KIRKFIELD

Accused Arrested and Charged

(KIRKFIELD, ON) - The City of Kawartha Lakes Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has arrested one individual in relation to the ongoing death investigation in Kirkfield.

On Thursday, August 21, at approximately 4:10 am, officers were called to a residence on Richmond Street West where one person was located deceased. 

As a result of the investigation, the OPP has arrested and charged Samuel Connors, 21, of Woodville with second-degree murder, contrary to section 231 of the Criminal Code. 

The accused to scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay on Friday, August 22, 2025.

The identity of the victim will not be released at this time.  

This investigation is being conducted by the OPP City of Kawartha Lakes Crime Unit, under the direction of the Criminal Investigation Branch, in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service. Assistance was also being provided by the OPP Central Region Emergency Response Team.
