-UPDATE #1- OPP IS INVESTIGATING A SERIOUS COLLISION ON HIGHWAY 64

One Person Deceased, Detour in Place for Passenger Vehicles

(FRENCH RIVER, ON) - The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is currently investigating a serious collision that has resulted in one fatality in French River and the closure of Highway 64 at Labrosse Road. Local traffic is asked to follow the detour on Labrosse Road, and commercial motor vehicles are asked to plan alternate routes as there is no detour in place.

On Wednesday, June 18, 2025, at approximately 1:45 pm, officers from the Sudbury Detachment of the OPP responded to a collision involving a motorcycle and a pedestrian. As a result of the incident, the pedestrian is deceased, and the motorcyclist sustained serious injuries and was transported by ORNGE to a regional trauma centre.

The investigation continues with assistance from the OPP Technical Collision Investigators and Reconstructionist.
