-UPDATE #1- POLICE LOOKING FOR DRIVER WHO FAILED TO STOP FOR A SCHOOL BUS AND STRUCK A CHILD
Driver arrested and charged
(HARLEY TOWNSHIP, ON) - A child was transported to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries after being struck by vehicle.
On Thursday, September 25, 2025, shortly before 7:50 am, members of the Temiskaming Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), along with Temiskaming Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and the Harley and Dymond Fire Departments, responded to a report of a collision involving a car and a child on Highway 569 in Harley Township.
Investigation revealed that the child was struck while crossing the roadway to board their school bus. The school bus had it’s stop-arm out and flashing lights activated at the time. The driver of the involved vehicle failed to remain at the scene of the collision.
As a result of the investigation, Ryan WRIGHT, 37 years-of-age of Hilliard Township, has been arrested and charged with:
- Fail to stop at accident resulting in bodily harm
- Dangerous operation causing bodily harm
- Fail to comply with probation
- Driving while under suspension
The accused remains in custody and is scheduled to appear before the Haileybury Ontario Court of Justice on September 26, 2025.
