-UPDATE #1- SERIOUS FOUR- VEHICLE COLLISION CLOSES HWY 7
Two People Deceased
(TAY VALLEY TWP, ON) - The Lanark County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) continues to investigate a four-vehicle collision which has resulted in two fatalities. Two others were critically injured and two individuals suffered minor injuries.
The deceased individuals have been identified as a 59-year-old female and a 46-year-old male from Ottawa. They had been travelling in the same vehicle. Two other individuals were transported to a regional trauma centre by Air Ornge, one individual taken to hospital in Ottawa and one taken to a local hospital.
Lanark County OPP, Lanark County Paramedic Services and Drummond-North Elmsley-Tay Valley Fire Rescue responded to the collision on Highway-7, east of Maberly, just after 3:00 am on Friday, August 22, 2025.
The collision involved two transport trucks, a pick-up truck and a sport utility vehicle (SUV). All individuals involved are adults. As part of the ongoing investigation it appears the two transport trucks and the SUV were travelling Eastbound and the pick-up truck was travelling Westbound.
Lanark County OPP continues to investigate, with assistance from OPP Technical Collision Investigators and Collision Reconstructionist.
Highway 7 will remain closed between County Road 36 and County Road 511 for several hours. Marked detours are in place.
