-UPDATE #1- SHELTER-IN-PLACE IN EFFECT IN CALEDON

Shelter In Place Lifted, Investigation Ongoing

(CALEDON, ON) - The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is advising that the shelter-in-place in affect on Highway 9 between The Gore Road, Patterson Side Road, Finnerty Street and Humber Station Road in Caledon has been lifted and all roads have reopened. The shelter-in-place was issued in response to an incident earlier this morning. A heavy police presence continues while the investigation remains ongoing. There is no threat to public safety.

As part of the initial response, members of the public in the affected area were advised to follow shelter-in-place precautions, including:

  • Seeking immediate shelter if outdoors
  • Locking doors and windows and remaining indoors
  • Closing curtains and minimizing visibility
  • Proceeding directly to a safe location if driving
  • Following all directions from officers on scene

Individuals not in the area were asked to avoid travelling to it until further notice. An increased police presence remains as the investigation continues.

We recognize the emotional impact that a shelter-in-place advisory can have. The OPP thanks the public for their cooperation and vigilance.
