-Update #1- SINGLE VEHICLE COLLISION LEADS TO MULTIPLE CHARGES

One Individual Returned to Ontario Following a Canada-Wide Warrant

(SOUTHWEST MIDDLESEX, ON) - An individual wanted on a Canada-wide warrant was arrested without incident in Edmonton, Alberta, and has since been returned to Ontario to face charges laid by the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP).

On October 3, 2023, at approximately 10:10 pm, members of the Middlesex County Detachment of the OPP were conducting Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (R.I.D.E) checks on Hagerty Road in Southwest Middlesex when a vehicle failed to stop. The driver was identified and charged with multiple offences.

In May of 2025, the accused failed to attend court, and a Canada-wide warrant was issued for their arrest.

On October 20, 2025, with the assistance of the OPP Offender Management Apprehension Team, Edmonton Police Warrant Apprehension and Diversion Unit, and the Fugitive Apprehension Sheriff Support Team, the accused was located at an address in Edmonton, Alberta and taken into custody without incident. The accused was transferred back to Ontario on October 23 to face the outstanding charges.

As a result of investigation, Temitayo AKINDUNNI, a 37-year-old of Welland, is facing the following charges:

  • Possession of prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition
  • Carry firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition in a careless manner
  • Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose
  • Occupant of motor vehicle knowing there was prohibited or restricted weapon
  • Possession of Firearm or Ammunition contrary to Prohibition Order - two counts
  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking - cocaine
  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking - methamphetamine
  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking - opioid (other than heroin)
  • Careless driving

The accused has been held for bail and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in London at a later date.
