-UPDATE #1- SIOUX LOOKOUT OPP INVESTIGATING SERIOUS ASSAULT

Victim Pronounced Deceased

(SIOUX LOOKOUT, ON) - One person has been pronounced deceased in relation to an ongoing serious assault investigation in Sioux Lookout.

On Friday, August 22, 2025, shortly before 6:00 pm, officers from the Sioux Lookout Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were called to a residence on Millar Crescent, where one person was located with life-threatening injuries and transported to the hospital.

On Friday, August 29, 2025, the individual, identified as 34-year-old Tyrone (Tye) Lawrence KAKEPETUM of Sioux Lookout, was pronounced deceased.  

A postmortem examination was conducted at the Ontario Forensic Pathology Services (OFPS) in Toronto. The incident remains under investigation.
