TWO MOTOR VEHICLE COLLISION CLOSES HIGHWAY

Driver Charged with Five Offences

(WELLINGTON NORTH TWP, ON) - The Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a two-motor vehicle collision on Highway 6, sending one to hospital.

On July 3, 2025, at approximately 7:00 am, the Wellington County OPP, alongside local emergency services, responded to a report of a two-motor vehicle collision on Highway 6 within Arthur.

Highway 6, between Conestoga Street North and Preston Street North within Arthur was closed as a result of the collision for several hours but has since reopened.

One driver was taken into custody, and another driver was taken to local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

As a result of the investigation, James WOODS, a 25-year-old from CONN is charged under the Criminal Code and Highway Traffic Act with the following:

  • Dangerous Operation causing bodily harm
  • Operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs
  • Fail to remain
  • Operation while prohibited under the criminal code
  • Drive motor vehicle - not equipped with ignition interlock device

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS) and a 45-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute.

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice - Guelph on July 18, 2025.
