SHELTER-IN-PLACE IN EFFECT IN WELLINGTON NORTH

Area Clear - Individual In Custody

(WELLINGTON NORTH TWP, ON) - The Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were on scene at a residential property with a barricaded subject. Individual has been since placed into custody without issue.

On September 19, 2025, at approximately 11:45 pm, the Wellington County OPP were called to a residence on Highway 6, just north of Arthur within Wellington North Township, regarding a barricaded person.

The Wellington County OPP, alongside West Region Tactics and Rescue Unit (TRU), West Region Emergency Response Team (ERT), OPP Canine, Crisis Negotiators and Paramedic Services were on scene, As a result of the investigation, one individual was place into police custody without issue.

Highway 6 was closed between Sideroad 10 and Wells Street, just outside of Arthur, but has since been reopened.

There is no threat to public safety. This was an isolated incident.

The name of the individual will not be released out of concern for their well-being, no charges have been laid, and the individual was brought to local hospital for assessment.
