-UPDATE #3- HOMICIDE INVESTIGATION IN SIMCOE
Human Remains Located
(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) - The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has located human remains in a wooded area off Highway 6 in Haldimand County, in connection with the homicide investigation in Simcoe.
On Thursday, October 16, 2025, at approximately 6:00 pm, investigators located human remains off Highway 6 west of Caledonia and south of Stirling Street believed to be part of the ongoing homicide investigation. A postmortem examination to confirm the identity and cause of death is scheduled at the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service (OFPS) on Friday, October 17, 2025.
Residents and members of the public who were in the area of Highway 6 west of Caledonia and south of Stirling Street on Sunday, October 5, 2025, between 10:30 pm and 12:00 am, are asked to contact police if they observed any suspicious activity. Anyone with a dashcam is asked to check their footage and contact police with any information that may assist investigators. Even details that seem minor or unrelated may prove to be important.
Residents in the area can expect to see a police presence as the investigation continues.
The Norfolk County OPP Crime Unit is continuing the investigation under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch, in collaboration with the Office of the Chief Coroner and the OFPS. Assistance is also being provided by the OPP Forensic Identification Services.
