-UPDATE #4- EMERGENCY ALERT ISSUED FOR ARMED INDIVIDUAL IN TEMAGAMI NORTH AND LATCHFORD

Public Safety Emergency Alert Lifted, One Individual in Custody

(TEMISKAMING DISTRICT, ON) - At 1:50 pm the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) issued an additional emergency alert for the Temagami North and Latchford area. As of 3:35 pm, the alert has been lifted.

Residents are no longer required to shelter in place and may safely resume regular activities.

One individual has been taken into police custody.

Highway 11 is fully closed between Highway 64, north of Marten River, to Thibault Hill in North Bay. Motorists are advised to use alternate routes and expect delays.

A significant police presence will remain in the area of Roosevelt Road as the investigation continues.

Emergency responders are actively monitoring and responding to a forest fire located east of Highway 11, south of the northern intersection of Roosevelt Road.
