-UPDATE #6- OPP INVESTIGATING ROCKS THROWN AT MOVING VEHICLES - Additional Charges Laid
(AURORA, ON) - Additional charges have been laid in connection with incidents in which police believe rocks were being thrown at moving vehicles in Markham between Friday, September 20, 2024, and Sunday, November 30, 2024. Similar incidents were reported within York Regional Police (YRP) jurisdiction.
As a result of the ongoing investigation, additional charges have been laid against two 18-year-old males of Markham and Richmond Hill originally charged on Wednesday, July 2, 2025. They have each been charged with the following additional Criminal Code offences relating to two separate incidents:
- Assault with a weapon, section 267(a) - two counts
- Mischief endangering life, section 430(2) - two counts
As the incidents occurred when both accused were youths, their names are protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act and cannot be released.
Both accused have been released and are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Newmarket on a later date.
This investigation is being conducted by the Aurora Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch, in coordination with YRP. The additional charges were laid by the OPP in relation to incidents occurring in both OPP and YRP jurisdictions.
