-UPDATE#1- ONE PERSON IS DECEASED DUE TO A COLLISION ON HIGHWAY 17 BYPASS

Highway is Open in Both Directions

(SUDBURY, ON) - The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has opened the highway in both directions.

On Friday June 13, 2025, at approximately 1:15 am, members from the Nipissing West (Sudbury) Detachment of the OPP, Fire Services and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) responded to a collision, involving two Commercial Motor Vehicles (CMV) on Highway 17, Sudbury.

One driver was pronounced deceased at the scene, while the second driver was transported by EMS to the local hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.

The OPP Collision Reconstructionist and the Traffic Collision Investigation Team are assisting with the investigation, to determine the cause of the collision.
