(WELLINGTON NORTH TOWNSHIP, ON)  - One individual has been charged following an incident in Arthur.

On October 21, 2025, at approximately 8:00 pm, the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of an altercation at a residence on George Street in Arthur. Officers formed grounds to arrest the subject of the complaint. While being arrested, the accused assaulted a Wellington County OPP officer.

The victim sustained minor injuries and was assessed by local paramedic services. The police officer did not sustain any injuries.

As a result of the investigation, Sean STROUD, a 59-year-old from Arthur, has been charged under the Criminal Code with:

• Assault a peace officer
• Assault
• Uttering threats - cause death or bodily harm
• Failure to comply with undertaking

The accused was held in police custody, pending a bail hearing.
