Just before 11:25 pm last night, October 24, 2022, Police were dispatched to the area of the Maley Drive ramp heading East just off of Notre Dame Avenue in relation to a single vehicle collision involving a Black Ford F-150.

Upon arrival, Officers located two passengers in the vehicle who had sustained injuries as a result of the collision. A 39 year old man was transported to hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries and a 19 year old man was transported to hospital with minor injuries.

A K9 track was conducted in order to locate the driver of the vehicle who fled the scene prior to Police arrival. Shortly after 12:30 am, this morning, October 25, 2022, Officers located the driver in the bush off of the Maley Drive extension.

Upon speaking with the man, Officers detected signs of impairment and as a result, he was taken into Police custody.

45 year old Stephen Koper has been charged with the following offences under the Criminal Code of Canada and the Highway Traffic Act;

  • Dangerous Operation Causing Bodily Harm
  • Fail to Stop at an Accident Resulting in Bodily Harm
  • Operation While Impaired
  • Operation Causing Bodily Harm
  • Failure to Comply with Release Order
  • Operation While Prohibited Under the Criminal Code
  • Driving While Under Suspension
  • Use Plate Not Authorized for Vehicle
  • Fail to Properly Wear Seatbelt
  • Operate a Motor Vehicle Without Insurance
  • Driving Motor Vehicle with Open Container of Liquor

He was held in Police custody overnight in order to attend Bail Court today, October 25, 2022.
