On October 9, 2025, detectives from the Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) concluded an investigation involving individuals believed to be trafficking illicit drugs in our community. Members of the Emergency Response Unit (ERU) and K9 Unit executed a Controlled drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) warrant at a residential unit at 720 Bruce Avenue. Seven people were located inside the apartment and arrested for drug offences.

Upon searching the individuals and residence, officers located and seized approximately 90 grams of cocaine, 28 grams of fentanyl, and a large amount of cash. The estimated street value of the drugs seized is $12,000.

As a result of the investigation, 29-year-old, Tran Nguyen and 36-year-old, Jonathan Hill, both from Southern Ontario, have charged with the following offences under the Controlled drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) and Criminal Code of Canada:

  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking, to wit: Cocaine.
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking, to wit: Fentanyl.
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000

Tran Nguyen has also been charged with Breach of Release Order as he is currently before the courts for drug trafficking offences stemming from a separate investigation earlier this year.

Both individuals will attend Bail Court today, October 10, 2025, to answer to the charges.

The other five individuals taken into custody were released unconditionally.
