This morning, June 14, 2024, Detectives from the Greater Sudbury Police Service Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) concluded an investigation regarding individuals believed to be trafficking illicit drugs in Greater Sudbury.

As a result of the investigation, Detectives from the Integrated Crime Section of our Criminal Investigation Division, along with the assistance of the Emergency Response Unit (ERU), K9 Unit and the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP)-led Provincial Guns & Gangs Enforcement Team executed a search warrant on Burton Avenue.

Officers located approximately 68 grams of Fentanyl, 4.5 grams of cocaine, approximately $8,000 in cash, and a large amount of counterfeit American money. The estimated street value of the seized drugs is approximately $7,000.

As a result of the search warrant, 34-year-old, Danielle Amyotte, 18-year-old, K-Veille Brown, 38-year-old, Kenneth Ducheno and 33-year-old, Daniel Solomon have been charged with the following offences under the Controlled drugs and Substances Act and Criminal Code of Canada:

  • Possession of a Schedule I controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, to wit: Cocaine.
  • Possession of a Schedule I controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, to wit: Fentanyl.
  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000

They will attend Bail Court this afternoon to answer to the charges.

During the execution of the search warrant, K9 Roy ingested Fentanyl while searching a room. His handler immediately administered Narcan and rushed him to the veterinarian where he underwent precautionary tests. Thanks to the quick actions of his handler, Roy is expected to make a full recovery. This is a stark reminder of the dangers our officers and canines face while protecting our community.
