In July, officers from the Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) Unit began an investigation in relation to historical IPV incidents involving two individuals in our community.

On August 5, 2025, 40-year-old, Robert Dorzek from Val Caron was arrested by members of our Emergency Response and IPV Units. The individual has been charged with the following offences under the Criminal Code of Canada;

  • Cause Unnecessary Suffering to Animal
  • Mischief Under $5,000 x5
  • Assault
  • Assault With a Weapon
  • Forcible Confinement
  • Uttering Threats to Cause Death or Bodily Harm

Following the arrest, officers from the ERU, Criminal Investigations Division and IPV Unit executed a search warrant at the individual’s residence where they seized firearms, weapons, ammunition, and explosive substances. Officers seized eight firearms, two crossbows and thousands of rounds of ammunition.

The individual attended Bail Court on August 6, 2025, to answer to the charges and has since been released with conditions and a future court date.

This includes:
