seizure in ChelmsfordOn March 2, 2025, officers from Patrol Operations were dispatched to an address in Chelmsford for an assault complaint. During the initial assault investigation, officers received information that there may be a drug lab on the property.

While conducting the investigation, officers observed what they believed to be an active methamphetamine lab. Officers arrested the individual, secured the residence and contacted Greater Sudbury Fire Services HAZMAT Technicians to ensure public safety while detectives from the Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) applied for a search warrant of the property.

On March 5, 2025, Detectives from the DEU received the warrant to search the property. Officers conducted a search and located a clandestine methamphetamine laboratory.

Detectives located approximately 210 grams of crystal methamphetamine, a conducted energy weapon, two long guns, ammunition, scales, numerous chemicals and a large sum of cash (believed to be over $100,000). The estimated street value of the drugs seized is $20,000.

56-year-old, Joey Alonso has been charged with the following offences under the Controlled drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) and Criminal Code of Canada:

  • Possession of a Schedule I controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, to wit: Methamphetamine
  • Production of a controlled substance, to wit: Methamphetamine
  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000
  • Unauthorized possession of firearms x 2
  • Possession of a Prohibited Weapon

Joey Alonso attended bail court on March 3, 2025, to answer to the charges.
