Officers arrest driver on outstanding warrant and seize loaded handgun

Just before 8:00 p.m. on May 19, 2025, patrol officers observed a driver of a motor vehicle fail to stop at a stop sign in the west end of the city. Officers in a marked police cruiser followed the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop shortly thereafter on Lorne Street. On April 25 th, 2022 at 7:20 p.m., we received a call in relation to a motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian on Second Avenue, northbound between Camelot and Kenwood Street in Greater Sudbury. Several Charges Laid on New Year’s Eve, including Assault Peace Officer and Operation While Impaired

On New Year’s Eve, our Traffic Management Unit checked 371 vehicles in Greater Sudbury to ensure sober driving. In total, 12 Approved Screening Device tests and 11 Mandatory Alcohol Screening tests were administered; four Impaired drivers were charged; 18 Highway Traffic Act violations and five other Criminal Code charges were laid.
