UPDATE

On the afternoon of August 14, 2021, Members of our Emergency Response Unit including our Canine Unit conducted a search in the area of Lloyd Street in relation to the shooting that took place early that morning. During the Canine search, Officers located a bicycle and two firearms in a wooded area. One of the firearms was a replica revolver; however the second firearm that was located is believed to be the gun used during the original incident.

Through the investigation, Detectives in our Criminal Investigation Division identified and the two men believed to be responsible for the attack.

On August 18, 2021, Detectives from our Major Crime Section located and arrested one of the men at a residence on Holland Road.

On August 19, 2021, Detectives from our Integrated Crime Section located the second man on Lorne Street and with the assistance of Members of our Emergency Response Unit took the man into custody.

28 year old Brandon Gramling-McEwan and 36 year old Gimmalee Sirois have been charged with the following offences under the Criminal Code of Canada;

  • Attempt Murder with a Firearm
  • Discharging a Firearm with Intent
  • Pointing a Firearm
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
  • Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
  • Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose

The 53 year old man who sustained the gunshot wound is expected to make a full recovery.

ORIGINAL

Just after 2:00 am on August 14, 2021, officers responded to a Weapons complainant in the area of Lloyd Street.  Information provided was that a man had been shot and the unknown suspects had fled the area.

Upon arrival, officers located a 53 year old man inside his residence suffering from a gunshot wound to his lower extremities.  He was transported to the hospital by City of Greater Sudbury Paramedic Services with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

This is believed to be a targeted and isolated incident, however at this time there are no descriptors of the suspects.
