-UPDATE #1- MULTIPLE ROAD CLOSURES FROM WASHOUTS IN ESPANOLA AREA
Two Additional Roads Closed
(ESPANOLA, ON) - The Manitoulin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is advising that there are two additional roads closed in the area:
- Bass Lake Road near civic number 2174 is fully closed due to a washout
- Panache Lake Road near Brazil Lake is fully closed due to a washout
- Highway 6 is closed in both directions between Birch Lane and Hopkins Hill Road due to a washout. Road crews are currently on scene assessing the damage
- Fox Lake Road is also closed as a result of a culvert washout
- Old Webbwood Road, near civic number 241, in the Sables Spanish Rivers Township, is fully closed due to a washout. Road crews will be attending this location to assess the damage
- Minto road between Davis Road and Old Nairn Road in Nairn Centre is closed due to a washout. Road crews will be attending this location to assess the situation
These road closures will remain in effect until further notice. At this time, no detour routes are available, and the affected areas will stay closed until repairs are completed and the roads are confirmed to be safe for travel.
The Manitoulin OPP is urging the public to avoid these locations and to respect all road closure signs. For your safety, do not attempt to bypass barricades or detour around signage, as the road conditions are unstable and pose a serious risk to drivers.
The OPP will provide updates as more information becomes available. We appreciate the public’s patience and cooperation as crews work diligently to restore safe travel routes.
