(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) - Police are seeking assistance from the public in identifying two individuals connected to a vehicle purchase fraud in Langton.
At approximately 9:03 am on Thursday, April 24, 2025, the Norfolk County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a reported fraud on Highway 59 in Langton.
Through investigation, it was determined that around 10:00 pm the previous night, two unidentified individuals attended a residence in response to an online advertisement for a vehicle that was listed for sale.
After taking the vehicle - a grey 2008 Ford F-350 pickup trucking bearing Ontario licence platees BL87963 - for a test drive, the individuals claimed that it had preexisting damage and used this as justification to offer a lower payment than what was originally agreed upon. Following the transaction, the victim later discovered that the full payment had not been received.
Police believe the individuals provided false identities and intentionally misrepresented the vehicle’s condition. It was also determined that they refused to remove the licence platees before departing with the vehicle in their possession.
Police also believe the suspects may be canvassing online buy-and-sell platforms, targeting multiple vehicle listings in a given area before attending.
